I have always been interested in drawing and painting people. Whenever I visited museums as a child or looked at paintings in books, it was usually the portraits that elicited the strongest emotional response in me and still do today. In my own work, I often paint boxers because the image of a fighter is a perfect visual metaphor for many of the things that all people experience in life....hardship, struggle, pain, joy, triumph, tragedy, and redemption.
